23rd Celebrity Golf Tournament for the Alzheimer Society of Montreal
On August 25th, our client, the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, held its 23rd golf tournament. The Hector ‘Toe’ Blake Celebrity Golf Tournament is an annual event in the honour of the hockey legend who passed away from Alzheimer’s disease 21 years ago. When subscribing to the event, the participants could choose to play in company of a sport’s legend. BNP’s Matias Duque played in the tournament with renowned former hockey player, Stephane Richer.
Chris Nilan and John R. Moore shared the presidency of this year’s event. M. Nilan is a radio host for TSN Radio 690, here in Montreal. He is a former hockey player who played when the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup in 1986. During the event of August 25th, he delivered an emotional speech about his involvement in the cause. He also spoke the consequences that Alzheimer’s and related diseases have on families such as his own. As for John R. Moore, he is the president of the business that his father, former Montreal Canadiens hockey player, founded, Dickie Moore Rentals. He is a regular at this tournament, as was his father.
The Alzheimer Society of Montreal is committed to alleviating the social and personal consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, as well as promoting research into their causes and cure. The golf tournament is one of the organisation’s biggest events. This year, a grand total of $84,000 was raised. A burst of generosity from the participants towards a trying cause that impacts countless families!
