MARC LAPOINTE
Vice President, Atlantic
Ten years ago, Marc Lapointe decided to make his passion for helping his community into a career by becoming a development professional. He began his fundraising career at the Université de Moncton, where he improved the organization’s Major Gift, Planned Giving and Stewardship processes while working closely with the Scholarship organization. During his tenure, Scholarships and Bursaries doubled, while the endowment grew by $25 million. Marc has worked on a number of campaigns that touched everything from complex university-style philanthropy to the urgency of community-based charities.
Prior to this, Marc enjoyed a successful sales and marketing career in private industry. His duties ranged from helping start a national chain of dealerships to negotiating contracts with large multinationals, launching national vehicle brands and eventually overseeing over $1 billion in yearly sales. Marc held regional, provincial, and national responsibilities at various points in this career.
Marc is fluently bilingual and holds degrees from Université Laval, Saint Mary’s University and the Certified Fundraising Executive designation.
When he is not helping charities to create transformative fundraising campaigns, he keeps busy with his involvement in various community groups. Marc is a Board Member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals-New Brunswick chapter, a Facilitator and member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Rotary Leadership Institute, the founding Treasurer and Past-President of the Greater Moncton Sunrise Rotary Club, past-Chair of the French Language Section of a large Ontario School Board and a past member of many Boards. In his downtime, you can catch him skiing on the slopes, training for half-marathons, or spending time with his wife and four children.
